Give feedback on this proposal for TAG programming within each neighborhood cluster

This is a proposal written by Mark Feldman, a current ACCESS parent.  He would like feedback on the concept of neighborhood TAG clusters, ultimately distributing the ACCESS model throughout the district rather than keeping it in a centralized location.

Please e mail Board Members TODAY in support of ROBUST TAG funding

SCHOOL BOARD VOTE ON THE BUDGET IS TUESDAY, 5/24
Public comment begins around 7:15 pm; Budget vote will be closer to 8:30 or 9 pm.
Blanchard Education Service Center, 501 N. Dixon Street
After the budget hearings last week, *all* the board members indicated support for the addition of $100,000 “as a placeholder to begin implementation of recommendations to improve services for TAG students in partnership with the TAGAC.”
The money they've penciled in is a fraction of what is needed, but will add one TAG TOSA (teacher on special assignment) to help with professional development and support.
We won’t even get that unless they vote to confirm it! Let’s keep the pressure on—please email board members or come to the board meeting with signs: “FUND TAG PROGRAMS,” “STRONG NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS NEED STRONG TAG SERVICES.”
Thanks for all you’ve done to help the School Board understand the sorry state of PPS TAG services. Your voices have begun to make a difference.

Science Essay Contest

The PPS Department of Talented and Gifted Education is now accepting essays from students who have a passion for science and are identified as TAG.

Two students will be selected for the quality and content of their essay and will have the opportunity to attend a summer camp offered by OMSI, at NO COST.

We will accept scholarly essays from current 5thand 6th graders only. This competition is open to all schools and requires the student to write a one page essay describing how science has impacted their life and how they plan to study science to help make the world a better place.  Also, each essay will need to include why he or she wants to study a specific  area of expertise offered this summer at OMSI. All essays are due to the Department of Talented and Gifted Education by May 15th, 2016.
